I warmly welcome research students who are interested in semantic change, conversation analysis, the stance-marking phenomenon, and contrastive analysis of English and Cantonese from the discourse-pragmatic perspective. Currently I am looking for students who are interested in analyzing:

  • Cantonese conversations in an institutional setting;
  • the grammatical strategies involved in stance-taking; and,
  • the grammaticalization of a particular group of words/structures/constructions.
